The Centre

Welcome to The Physiotherapy & Acupuncture Centre, a private clinic offering professional treatment for a wide variety of conditions.

What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a system of treatment of injury, illness, dysfunction or disability, utilising treatment methods that enhance the body’s own natural healing and recovery mechanisms. Chartered Physiotherapists specialise in getting to the root of your problem through observation, assessment and analysis of function and dysfunction, leading to a clinical diagnosis. All Physiotherapists at the Centre endeavor to increase their knowledge and keep up to date with the latest developments in the field. This is achieved through continual training, attendance at seminars and critical evaluation of practice.

The Physiotherapists

Don and Radha Chandresinghe are Chartered and HPC Registered Physiotherapists, each having over thirty years’ experience in their field. Both are members of the OCPPP (Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice).

Don Chandresinghe MCSP, SRP

Don’s career as a physiotherapist spans over 30 years in both the NHS and the private and industrial sectors. Don has a keen interest in sports injuries and conditions relating to muscles and joints. His work in the NHS includes positions as a Senior Physiotherapist at Whipp’s Cross Hospital, Research Therapist at Old Church Hospital, Deputy Superintendent at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, and Senior Manager at Basildon & Thurrock Community Trust.

In addition to developing clinical skills, he also undertook a leading role in clinical audit, clinical education, post graduate education and research.

Radha Chandresinghe, MCSP, SRP, AssMCPMT

Radha Chandresinghe is a Chartered and State Registered Physiotherapist and a Qualified Acupuncturist. She is an associate member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Manipulative Therapy.

Radha has over 20 years experience as a physiotherapist in the NHS and over 10 years in the private sector. Radha is very well known in the local area as she was heavily involved in developing the community physiotherapy service in Redbridge. She stepped down from her management role within the NHS to develop her career in Clinical Physiotherapy in her own practice and has been a key player in developing the Centre.

Radha has developed an enviable reputation as a physiotherapist thanks to her enthusiasm to provide the best quality, cost effective treatment coupled with excellent patient care.

Radha has a special interest in Moving & Handling legislation and training. Over the last ten years, she has trained employees of various organisations including BUPA care homes, Local Authority centres, Nursing Homes and Residential Homes. She has valuable experience in risk assessment and ergonomic assessment to eliminate injury and strain at work.

We aim to provide the most up to date assessment and treatment for patients in a friendly and professional manner in comfortable surroundings.

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing developed thousands of years ago as part of the traditional medicine of China. The stimulation of specific acupuncture points affects the functioning of certain areas of the body. Acupuncture is effective for many conditions although some respond to treatment better than others, for example, headaches, migraines, back pain, arthritis, and tennis elbow to name a few.

Radha is a qualified Pilates teacher and a member of the Australian Pilates Association.

Pilate is taught one to one or small groups (maximum three) at a time.

What To Expect

Your First Appointment

When you arrive for your first appointment, you will be greeted by a receptionist or therapist and will be asked to provide some basic information about yourself. If you have any X-ray reports or films, please bring them with you.

If you have any concerns or queries at any point during your treatment, please discuss these with your therapist who will be more than happy to assist. If you wish, a friend or relative may accompany you into the treatment.

Frequency of treatment depends on the clinical problem and the severity of the symptoms. This can be discussed at the first consultation or subsequent appointments..

When treatment has been completed, it is standard policy for us to inform your doctor in writing by sending him a discharge summary. If you do not wish us to do so, please inform your therapist. We will keep your records on our files.

Reports And Copies Of Your Records

If you wish, we can supply you with a written report of your treatment. This will not go to a third party without your prior written consent. There will be a charge for this service and photocopies can be supplied at a nominal cost.
